As a product photographer based in the San Fernando Valley, I get to see and photograph a lot of different types of items. This photo of a spatula set involved numerous interesting challenges. First, I had to light multiple different materials, including silicone and wood. Second, I had to find a way to position the cooking utensils in a way where they could all be easily seen. To do this, I used rice in the bottom of the utensil container, which enabled me to arrange the spoons and spatulas for easy viewing. The often-complex styling component of product photography can make or break an image.
