When creating photos of plastic products, the key is to make sure that the reflections in each item are symmetrical. For this photo of two drink pitchers, the highlight on the lids had to be even, which meant a lot of test shots to ensure that the highlight was not too hot or dark. The biggest challenge involved with this photo was aligning the products top to bottom to ensure that nothing appeared keystoned, top-heavy or bottom-heavy. This is why a tripod is essential. Product photography involves a lot of small measurements and adjustments. Hand-holding a camera rarely enables you to maintain consistency from one image to the next.
