As a Los Angeles product photographer who often works with jewelry designers, I've truly enjoyed capturing the stunning creations that emanate from artistic minds. This particular jewelry designer wanted a very handcrafted, bohemian feel for the images of her creative designs. While I often photograph jewelry on white backgrounds per my clients' preferences, this client wanted a different look, infusing the background with fading color to create a more interesting experience for the viewer. I wanted to show off the hammered textures in these unique rings, but I found that positioning the rings pointing up made the image look too sharp. I thus used an adhesive to position the rings in varying directions, which helped give the final image a greater sense of motion and energy. I love how my creative use of light helped create a sunrise feel for this product photograph.
